CCTE Engineering Graphics and Design
Think. Understand. Design.
Welcome to the CCTE Engineering Design Webpage. This webpage is designed for students, parents, and teachers to learn about our program and about class events, course material, and more!

For many, the teachers they encounter in school become influential figures for the rest of their lives. Here at CCTE, I hope that I am able to have this amazing opportunity with you.

I am Lisa Alvarado. I have been teaching Engineering Graphics and Design at CCTE since 2011.
Before becoming a teacher, I had several years of industry experience in Industrial Engineering and Quality Control.
I am a proud CCTE alum and I am so happy to give back to the students at CCTE.
I hope to provide the same opportunities that were offered to me.
Engineering Design Courses
This course will provide students the opportunity to master computer software applications in a variety of engineering and technical fields.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to apply the concepts and skills of computer-aided drafting and design software to prepare drawings to
American National Standards Institute and International Standards Organization Graphic
Standards guidelines.
They will be able to plan, develop, and present two and three dimensional
engineering design drawings and projects; understand manufacturing and construction methods and related documentation; produce solid model renderings, animation, presentation drawings; and produce three-dimensional prototypes.
First Year
Advanced Engineering Design
(§130.411. Engineering Design and Presentation II)
This course will provide students the opportunity to learn computer software applications used in a variety of engineering and technical fields. This course develops the process of engineering thought and application of the design process by producing working drawings, solid model renderings, and prototypes.
Articulated courses offered in conjunction with El Paso Community College:
· Advanced Engineering Design is articulated to DFTG 1409 (Basic CAD).
Second Year
Practicum Engineering Design
(§130.418. Practicum in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
This practicum is designed to give students supervised practical application of previously studied knowledge and skills. Practicum experiences can occur in a variety of locations appropriate to the nature and level of experience.
Articulated courses offered in conjunction with El Paso Community College:
· Practicum STEM 1 is articulated to DFTG 1433 Mechanical Drafting
· Practicum STEM 1 is articulated to DFTG 2432 Advanced Computer-Aided Drafting
Career and Technical Student Organizations
SkillsUSA Technical Drafting Chapter
Along with learning the fundamentals of Engineering Graphics and Design, Our students are encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA.

SkillsUSA is a national membership association serving high school, college and middle school students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, and for further education. SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.
